James: most googled athlete of 2014

His remarkable World Cup and smooth adaptation to Real Madrid have allowed him to lead the list of most 'googled' ahead other illustrious names in sport as Michael Schumacher, Ray Rice, Luis Suarez and Neymar.

The 'James-mania' is a reality. As each year end, Google has published a list of the most searched athletes in the world, led by Colombian and Real Madrid footballer James Rodríguez, in which three other South-Americans also appear in the top 10 players: Barça's Luis Suarez and Neymar, as well as Malaga's Memo Ochoa.

Interestingly four of the five footballers who are listed play on La Liga; only German and Bayern Munich star Mario Gotze appears representing the Bundesliga.

In the list is completed by former driver Michael Schumacher, Marussia driver Jules Bianchi, American football players Ray Rice and Richard Sherman and swimmer Michael Phelps.

James Rodriguez has garnered accolades during the World Cup in Brazil, in which Colombia was eliminated in the quarter-final against hosts Brazil, later joining Real Madrid, with whom he won the European Super Cup and has 10 goals in 1,793 minutes played with the white jersey in official matches.
